Had a wonderful weekend in Parks, AZ (near Flagstaff, AZ) at Cathi & Larry's ranch. The weather was beautiful and cousin Steve and his wife, Mary Ann came to visit. What a treat! Cathi's garden is growing well in spite of the late frost and cool nighttime temperatures. Lovely design too. The wildflowers are still blooming and a delicious treat came early Sunday morning. Cathi picked the first King Bolete Mushroom of the season. Just in time for breakfast with eggs! It was delicious and couldn't have been fresher. We learned about this edible treat when we lived in Arizona and were members of the Arizona Mushroom Club. It's now one of our choices when foraging in the woods.
When we came home, we drove up to a beautiful view of elk and our horses grazing together. The garden had doubled in weeds while we were gone, so we know what we will be doing this week.
It's never too late to explore and discover the beautiful (and delicious) world of organic gardening. Our blog features garden design, tips, plant suggestions, photos, recipes, our chickens, dogs, other critters, new ideas and safe, delicious ways to grow what we eat. We love to share comments and suggestions from readers as well as benefit from other blogs and websites we have visited. If we're not up to date with our posts - we're probably busy in the gardens.
